On May 18, 2022, the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) held its Annual Meeting and Convention at the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Peri & Stewart partner, Michael A. Malia, Esq., LL.M., was a part of the Insurance Fraud panel, which was co-sponsored by the NJSBA’s Criminal Law Section and Insurance Law Section.  Mr. Malia discussed the perspective of counsel for the insurance carrier bringing insurance fraud lawsuits.  Robert J. Brass, Esq. moderated the panel, which included discussions by: Assistant Attorney General Tracy M. Thompson, the New Jersey Insurance Fraud Prosecutor, who spoke about criminal prosecutions; Nicholas Kant, Assistant Chief, Banking and Insurance Section/Deputy Attorney General, who discussed civil enforcement actions; a judicial perspective from the Honorable Siobhan A. Teare, J.S.C.; and a criminal defense perspective from Darren M. Gelber and Matthew S. Adams.

Mr. Malia’s diverse litigation experience includes representing clients from individuals to Fortune 100 companies in: insurance, healthcare, financial and consumer fraud suits; anti-bullying and education law matters; personal injury cases; commercial litigation; insurance coverage disputes; and product liability suits.
